Running Second Suits has a lot of moving parts and lots of costs to cover if we are going to achieve our mission.
Pillars & Purpose
-
Mental + Physical Wellbeing Basic
As surfing is a highly sensory and physical activity, it allows participants to disconnect from the day to day. We live fairly busy lives and understand the benefits of being able to get away from it all and immerse ourselves in mother nature .
-
Sustainability
Unfortunately, for the majority of wetsuits, the core ingredient of a wetsuit is neoprene foam. Neoprene is a particularly unpleasant synthetic rubber made from petroleum. If Second Suits can improve the lifespan of a wetsuit, and keep wetsuits out of landfill, 350 tonnes of wetsuits go into landfill every year
-
Water Safety
With 74 drownings in NZ waters last year alone, and with a lot of coastline around NZ being cold for the majority of the year, it is paramount we provide the opportunity for less fortunate kiwis to access the water throughout the year and become more comfortable in the ocean.
